….and miles to go….

Beerlympics were hilarious and netted many Washingtons that sang a chorus of ‘Hey Cancer, shove off” today.

In other news, I run funny.

Fundraisers are coming up fast! I’ll be teaming up with the inimitable Rebecca Baker for some Pinkberry soon, so keep your eyes peeled. I have ‘a ways’ to go before hitting my goal, thanks to everyone who has already donated!

Now Everyone Knows….

….if I’ve been slacking off.

Into week 12 of training, I’m tracking workouts with the latest christmas present, the Garmin 310XT. It definitely puts me close to poser status, but it’s a motivator.

Track my workouts on Garmin Connect, filtering for ‘mattjjones’ and near 90401. Here’s a sample.

TNTBeerLympics.com, Game Night, and TNTBachelorAuction.net are keeping me busy. Tell your friends to come support.

Week 8 – Saddle Sore

SERIOUSLY.

Cycling might end up being my favorite part of being a triathlete. Why, you ask? Is it because you get to go fast? Is it because you can geek out on insanely overpriced carbon fiber frames with Italian names? Most likely all of the above. But wearing spandex-ish shorts isn’t the most fun thing in the world. And the….um….soft tissue concerns are interesting as well.

Better news about swimming though – I didn’t drown tonight, and the water should be out of my ears in less than a week this time.

I promise that posts here will eventually get more useful and less complaint-oriented. I have a few fund raising and technical projects in the mix that will make appearances sometime soon.

Until then, check out these:

It turns out that part of the funds I raise will be used to send me to the race itself. I decided that this isn’t a ‘Send Matt To Hawaii’ fundraiser, and will be adjusting the goal so I pay for my own vacation.

Tri Week 6 – Overtraining

Coaches are telling me that I should stop playing volleyball to avoid overtraining and injury. High impact sports following long distance training? No problem. My solution so far has been to play extra hard and make the volleyball games shorter by winning faster. Fewer reps = less injury, right?. I may also switch up a few running days for cycling to reduce knee impact.

In any case, Advil is my friend.

Ninja Rope

ninjarope gets you where you need to go. With dynamiteNinjaRope will be home to my current projects, which require lots more fun tools than Facebook will allow. Stay tuned for open source technology updates, triathlon training resources, charity events, and shenanigans.

I might get on my soap box every once in a while as well.
